Now What Have I Done?

Have you ever asked yourself that question?

I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve heard that question…. both from clients and that little voice inside my head. That little voice I’m talking about is the one that’s asking you right now… “what little voice is he talking about?” More about that little guy later!

When a great crusade is begun, the question “What have I done…” in some form or another is usually always asked by some high up official. An example that comes to mind is when the Allies invaded France to end World War II.

I am sure it was asked by the Steve’s (Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak) when they created a simple little computer in the garage. I know it was asked because most every person I have worked with asks it when they started their business.

This is one of the, if not the most important reasons to have a clearly defined vision… where do I want this thing, my business, to go (at least from where I am today) and mission… what I stand for and the reason why I’m starting this business.

The vision is to, as the late Stephen Covey said, “To Begin With The End In Mind” in other words… it’s a clearly defined outcome. What you want!

Remember to create that vision and mission first thing… it can always change and it will change as you progress down the road toward fulfilling the vision you originally created.
