What Have I Done Today to Generate Business for Tomorrow?

Oh, what a wild and wacky web is business! Being an entrepreneur is D-I-F-F-I-C-U-L-T! To take care of business today and have our foot and head already in tomorrow takes not only energy, effort and time, but also focus and organization.

Staying motivated to face the challenges is easier with humor and humility.

First, the humor.

Keep problems and mistakes in perspective. In the whole scope of life and business, a few broken eggs or miscues are not going to pull the plug on your business. Turn your omelet into scrambled eggs, toss on some cheese, a few fresh tomatoes, onions and peppers and voila!

You might have a new product or service, or you might have just scrambled eggs. Either way, if you face it with a smile and let it roll off your back you will get through it and continue to move forward.

Now, the humility part.

Everyone makes mistakes. Things don’t always go as planned. The great adventure, project or big deal sputters and falls flat. Accept the situation. Apologize if you need to. Figure out what went wrong and learn from it.

On the other hand… the big project is a win-win-win. The splash became a tsunami and the results are off the chart! Yay!! Celebrate, but don’t take all the credit. Include your team, everyone who helped, your inspiration, your tools, every single thing that went into the success. And realize that the same result may not be guaranteed every time. Be humble and thankful.

Every action you take today builds for good things (or not) tomorrow. Share success, build relationships, and prove your reliability and the quality of your work. That’s the foundation of building and generating work for tomorrow.

You have it in you to be everything you need to be to make your business better. If you don’t believe me, let’s talk. I think I can convince you otherwise.

To your success!
